Multigenerational Wealth Education and Stewardship

As the founders of a family with assets exceeding $1 billion looked to the future, they recognised the importance of preparing the next generation for the responsibilities of wealth stewardship.

With six heirs across three generations, aged 18-30, they wanted a structured education in wealth management, governance, and responsible financial decision-making. Their goal was clear: to ensure each family member had the skills and values needed to lead the family office while protecting the legacy they would inherit.

At Tethys Management, we designed a customised four-year program that blended technical training with practical experience. This allowed each heir to build confidence and competence in managing family assets.

We introduced investment fundamentals, risk management, and the basics of family governance. Each heir was assigned a virtual $1 million portfolio to manage, fostering practical experience in decision-making.

The heirs participated in quarterly portfolio reviews, receiving guidance on diversifying into traditional and alternative assets. Collectively, the family achieved a 15% annual return, surpassing benchmarks and building their investment knowledge.

We guided family members through creating a family charter, formalising their values, and setting up a family council to foster unity and future strategic planning.

Thanks to Tethys Management, our children are not just inheriting wealth but the understanding and values that come with it. Their guidance has been invaluable in preparing our family for the future.
